Groundbreaking Ceremony for Residences on Chestnut
An affordable housing project in Manchester, NH
Market Square Architects recently gathered with partners including Lincoln Avenue Communities and PC Construction to celebrate the construction of New Hampshire’s latest multi-family residential development. The new Residences at Chestnut facility, located in the Central Business District of Manchester, features two mid-rise buildings offering a total of 142 studio, one- and two-bedroom affordable housing units. Upon completion, the project will help meet the critical housing need in the greater Manchester area.
The modern housing complex includes amenities such as off-street parking, resident storage, a pet spa, shared workspaces, a community kitchen and gathering space, a rooftop deck and lounge, a fitness center as well as outdoor green space, walking paths, and an enclosed dog park.
To celebrate the start of construction, project backers joined together to present Families in Transition of Manchester with a $10,000 donation to support their efforts to deliver housing and services to people in need. The development is partly financed through the $3 million in federal funds approved last year for income-restricted developments in the city. Completion is expected in 2025.
