TWO NEW ASSOCIATES
Patrick Weber & Sothea Cheney have been named associates of Market Square Architects
Long before we officially named Sothea Cheney, AIA and Patrick Weber, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB as Associates of Market Square Architects, they had already earned that recognition through their work. Ask any client who’s worked with Thea on a multifamily or senior living project, or any developer or builder who’s partnered with Patrick across the Midwest and Nashville. They’ll tell you that these two professionals bring more than talent. They bring results.
Their leadership is already shaping the projects and partnerships that matter most.
Sothea Cheney, AIA
Project architect. Team leader. Tech manager. And a National Future Leader in Senior Living Design.
Thea brings focus and follow-through to every detail, from early concepts to occupancy. As Project Architect and Team Leader in our New Hampshire office, she’s built a reputation for delivering multifamily and senior housing projects that blend precision with empathy.
Thea’s leadership style is quiet but powerful. Clients trust her, and her team relies on her. The projects she leads stay on budget, in scope, and in alignment with client goals.
Projects that Thea has led include:
- Brightview (NY and NJ) – 10 senior living communities
- Foundry Place (Portsmouth, NH) – Mixed-use on a constrained urban site
- Hadley Falls (Goffstown, NH) – Adaptive reuse + new construction
- Easterseals Champlin Place (Rochester, NH) – Affordable senior living with community integration
What sets Thea apart is her ability to manage complexity without losing clarity, especially on high-pressure projects with multiple stakeholders, tight sites, or critical funding deadlines.
“We design for real lives and long-term value. That’s what motivates me. Not just getting it built, but getting it right.”
Patrick Weber, AIA, LEED AP
Director of our Midwest Region. Master Planner. Growth Leader.
As Director of our Midwest Region, Patrick has been instrumental in growing MSA’s presence in Nashville and St. Louis by building deep, trusted relationships in the communities he calls home.
With more than 20 years of experience, Patrick combines urban design expertise with the instincts of a builder, making him a natural fit for developer-led residential, mixed-use, and commercial work.
He brings a distinct blend of aesthetic rigor and construction practicality, grounded in a deep understanding of the zoning, permitting, and design expectations in the Southeast and Midwest.
Patrick has led projects that include:
- Porchlight East Hill (East Nashville, TN) – A 72-unit townhome neighborhood designed with pedestrian-first planning and a diverse unit mix.
- Meadowlake Tudor (Brentwood, TN) – This 8,500 sf modern Tudor spec home has seamless indoor-outdoor flow and a custom motor court.
- Webb Reserve Townhomes (Lebanon, TN) – An 81-unit townhome development that addressees workforce housing demand with high-quality design.
- Phoenix on 51st – Award-winning micro-unit and retail mixed-use project in The Nations, Nashville’s first of its kind

“Good design isn’t about ego. It’s about helping our clients build better: smarter, faster, with fewer surprises.”
