Expansion brings light and life into The Thirsty Moose restaurant.

Previously, the Thirsty Moose restaurant had been limited by a narrow entrance and dim interiors. When the neighboring retail space became available, they seized the opportunity to expand seating and introduce more glass at the front.

Now, even the back corner tables have views of the sidewalk outside. A new waiting area offers guests an inviting spot to relax while their table is readied. The stairway down to a lower level of seating received a new fire-rated glass enclosure, replacing the previous entry firewall and extending the natural light and views.

From grading challenge to showcase design feature

There was a 2’ difference in floor height between the original Thirsty Moose space and the adjacent expansion area due to existing site grading. This elevation difference presented the opportunity for a highly-visible new 60’ white oak bar at the upper level. This central design feature showcases 200 under-floor taps and doubles the restaurant’s total available bar length.

Minimal closure time

The project was delivered with minimal closure time for the Thirsty Moose. As much work as possible was completed on the expanded side before the demising wall came down, limiting closure to 7 weeks.
