Market Square Architects Taps Longtime Austin and Nashville Architects to Lead Next Phase of Regional Growth

John Puhr leads MSA’s Texas Region; and David Grisham joins longtime Nashville colleague Patrick Weber as MSA Marks its 10th Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. and AUSTIN, Texas — October 6, 2026 — As Market Square Architects (MSA) marks its 10th year in business, the firm has added two experienced architects with deep roots in Austin and Nashville to expand its leadership team. Longtime Austin architect John Puhr, AIA, has been named Director of the Texas Region, and David Grisham, RA, has joined MSA as Director of Client Relationships.

The appointments bring additional senior leadership to two of MSA’s key markets and build on relationships its leaders have developed in both communities over decades.

In Texas, Puhr brings more than 25 years of architectural experience and an extensive track record in the Austin market. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, he founded Root Architecture in 2011 and grew the practice from a solo practice into a diverse, multifaceted team that completed nearly 300 projects over 14 years. His experience spans multifamily and single-family housing, mixed-use, commercial, retail, hospitality, restaurant, civic, and higher education projects.

As Director of the Texas Region, Puhr now provides leadership and vision for MSA’s Austin office and supports clients and project teams throughout Texas and the Southwest. He is licensed in Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, and Nevada.

“John and David bring the kind of local knowledge you can’t manufacture,” said Adam Wagner, AIA, Founder and Principal of Market Square Architects. “They know the people, the development communities, and the realities of doing work in Austin and Nashville because they’ve spent years building practices and relationships there. At the same time, they’re connected to the experience and resources of our entire firm. That combination of strong local leadership and firmwide depth is exactly how we want to serve our clients.”

In Nashville, Grisham will work closely with Patrick Weber, AIA, LEED AP, Associate Principal and Director of the Midwest Region, who leads MSA’s Nashville office. Grisham and Weber were previously business partners at Nashville-based AESH Design and have each spent much of their careers living and working in the city.

Grisham brings nearly two decades of architectural, business, and project leadership experience to MSA. A licensed architect, he has worked across multifamily, commercial, hospitality, institutional, restaurant, and single-family residential projects and has held roles spanning project leadership, firm ownership, business development, and growth strategy. As Director of Client Relationships, he will focus on strengthening relationships with clients and development partners in Austin and Nashville while supporting firmwide growth initiatives.

His professional history with Weber adds continuity to MSA’s Nashville leadership. Weber has more than 20 years of architectural experience and has completed more than 250 projects across multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, healthcare and residential sectors. His ties to Nashville also extend beyond practice, including previous service on the board of Rebuilding Together Nashville.

Founded in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in 2016, MSA has grown into a multi-office practice serving clients nationwide. As the firm enters its second decade, its regional model centers on locally established leaders and staff who collaborate across Austin, Nashville and Portsmouth, allowing project teams to bring in specialized expertise and adjust resources quickly as schedules and project needs change. For clients, the structure combines local relationships and market knowledge with the capacity and flexibility of the full firm.
